Phab Times | Ice Bucket Challenge
In August 2014, several personnel from Phab Liverpool took part in the #icebucketchallenge, which became a worldwide phenomenon. Some very high profile celebrities participated in the challenge to raise funds and awareness of many different causes, and on the 26th August 2014, it was our turn.
The Ice Bucket Challenge was a viral craze which began in America during the summer of 2014 to raise money for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association. Started by former Boston College baseball player Pete Frates, whose own career was cut short by ALS is known more commonly in the United Kingdom as Motor Neurone Disease.
We were thankful that on the evening of the Tuesday 26th August 2014, the weather in Liverpool was on our side. We were delighted to take the challenge. Raising awareness about any health condition is something that we believe helps create a more inclusive society, and to see a campaign go viral around is something that we commend and acknowledge.
The Phab people that took part in the challenge were Phil Peel, Stephen Hunt, Emma Boswell, Mike O’Reilly and James Murray.
It was definitely a fun evening and something that everybody enjoyed and you can hear how much our Phab members enjoyed the evening when you watch our video!
